What is a good Sharpe ratio for a trader?
There is no universal cutoff. A Sharpe ratio must be read with the sample length, return frequency, risk-free-rate assumption, and data quality. Higher is better only when the inputs are comparable.
What is the Calmar ratio?
The Calmar ratio measures return relative to maximum drawdown. A higher Calmar ratio indicates better risk-adjusted performance per unit of worst-case loss. For reference, O'Neill's 2023 season produced a Calmar ratio of 12.71 (178% return / 14% max drawdown).
How do you measure trading performance?
